Become a Lambassador

Earn extra Income on Saturdays and afternoons promoting local farmers, local food

What is a Lambassador?

A Lambassador is someone who helps people discover how easy and delicious local lamb can be. Lambassadors can represent Sun Raised Foods at farmers markets, visit our retail store and restaurant partners to offer samples, answer questions, share cooking ideas, and help local businesses feel more confident selling lamb. In addition, a Lambassador can also help with branding, graphic design, event management and promotion of local lamb through social media, newsletters, graphic design for point of sale displays, posters and other media.

Why?

This a workforce initiative that is designed to address several challenges facing the local lamb industry, including limited consumer familiarity with Lamb, unpredictable demand and pricing for farmers and processors, Our retail and restaurant partner’s struggle to secure reliable access to quality lamb, and their staff often are not familiar with the delicious taste or how to product local lamb cuts or salami to their customers.

Many people might enjoy lamb in a restaurant but are unsure how to buy or cook it at home. That uncertainty makes demand unpredictable for our farms, our processing partners and the workforce in the local food supply chain.

For this reason, Sun Raised Foods is working with Montgomery Community College (MCC) in the same county where our largest farm is located. MCC will help us identify, train and support people who are looking for extra income and work on Saturdays and care where their food comes from and whats in it. Candidates should be able to promote a niche local food product.

Training

Lambassadors will receive hands-on training through farm visits and instruction in consumer education, product sampling, sales, marketing, and working with retail and restaurant staff to help them confidently promote lamb to their customers.

Goals

The Lambassador program aims to establish a presence at 20 weekly farmers markets and 15 holiday markets while developing relationships with 60 retail partners and 30 restaurant partners. Our Lamb are raised in rural North Carolina, but market development will focus on the Charlotte metropolitan area, the Piedmont Triad, the Research Triangle, and selected South Carolina markets. These urban areas provide access to consumers who are already interested in lamb but may not regularly prepare it at home. By connecting rural production with urban market access, the program is designed to create steady demand, expand employment opportunities, strengthen family farms, and ensure that revenue generated through retail, restaurant, and direct-to-consumer sales flows back into local agricultural communities.
