How to create a Charcuterie Board
1. THE DISPLAY
Use an artisan wooden board, a marble or stoneware plate. It lifts up the appearance and the overall impression of the charcuterie board.
2. FLAVORS, TEXTURES and COLORS
When you create your charcuterie board, use the two recipes of our lamb salami as a foundation for the SAVORY rich flavor piece. Think about the flavors, textures and colors that match the mood of the event.
Crunchy: we use the Accidental Baker’s artisan flatbread crackers and Bear Food Nuts as part of our North Carolina Charcuterie box but you can use crusted sour dough bread, your own crackers and nuts. Just make sure to use non-gmo or organic varieties to skip the harmful herbicides and pesticides used on traditional grains.
Creamy: we use the Goat Lady Dairy’s Aged gouda cheese to provide both a creamy texture, unique flavor and a unique texture of crystalization at the edges of the cheese. You can use brie cheese, your favorite cheese spreads, and even chocolate can add creamy texture and a sweet flavor to balance the savory flavor of the lamb salami.
Sweet: we use the Garnet Gals Jam, Cloister’s Honey and Spring and Mulberry Chocolate in our charcuterie boxes but you can use other jams, honey, fruits, chocolate. The sweet flavor and citrus of fruit balances the savory flavor of the salami.
Spicy: we use the Lusty Monk’s Original Sin mustard which provide a spicy flavor but also some creamy and slightly crunch texture with the mustard seeds. Pairs wonderfully with the savory lamb salami.
Color: Sliced fruit, red, green, yellow peppers, cherry tomatoes create and exciting color and more flavor to your charcuterie board. Variety makes it more fun to enjoy and sparks conversation.
Final touches: Fresh herbs are an easy way to add some freshness and brighten up the charcuterie board.
